Application of New Licence

Age

You must be at least 18 years old or above to obtain a Class 1B, 1A, 1, 3, and 7 Licences.
You must be at least 21 year old to obtain driving licence classes such as 2B, 2A, 2, 4, 5, 6A, 6, 8, 9, 10, 11 and 12.
For renewal, those aged 70 years old and above will be interviewed by a Licensing Officer. He/she may be required to undergo medical examination by a certified medical practitioner before their licence can be renewed for another year.

Eyesight

You must be able to read clearly the letter and numbering on a car registration plate from a distance of 23 metres with or without visual aid.

You must be able to distinguish the colours red, amber and green from a distance of 23 metres.

Class 2B	Unladen weight below 3000kg	21 Years Old or Above
Class 2A	Unladen weight between 3000kg and below 6000kg	21 Years Old or Above
Class 2	Unladen weight 6000kg or over	21 Years Old or Above
Class 3	Private and Commercial Vehicles — Net weight below 3000kg	18 Years Old or Above
Class 4	Commercial Vehicles — Net weight 3000kg and over	21 Years Old or Above
Class 5	Commercial Vehicles (Net weight between 4500 kilogrammes and over)	21 Years Old or Above Has held classes 3 licence for not less than a year Possess satisfactory medical certificate
Class 6	Any bus with more than 16 passenger seats	21 Years Old or Above Has held classes 3 licence for not less than a year Possess satisfactory medical certificate
Class 6A	Mini bus with not more than 16 passenger seats	21 Years Old or Above Has held classes 3 licence for not less than a year Possess satisfactory medical certificate
Class 7	Invalid Carriage and Pedestrian Controlled Vehicle	18 Years Old or Above
Class 8	Road Roller	21 Years Old or Above Possess satisfactory medical certificate
Class 9	Steam Driven Vehicle	21 Years Old or Above Possess satisfactory medical certificate
Class 10	Track Laying Vehicle	21 Years Old or Above Possess satisfactory medical certificate
Class 11	Wheeled Tractor	21 Years Old or Above Has held classes 3 licence for not less than a year Possess satisfactory medical certificate
Class 12	Taxicab	21 Years Old or Above Has held classes 3 licence for not less than a year
